Successful Prosecution following breach of Fire Safety Legislation
Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service has successfully prosecuted ATS Euromaster from Southampton for inadequate fire safety standards under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
ATS Euromaster was taken to court following a visit to the Southampton property by the Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service Fire Safety Officers. On their inspection they had found major contraventions of fire safety measures inside the building. (more…)
Successful Prosecution of Property Management Company
A business in Southampton has been found guilty of two offences relating to charges of the company’s failure to comply with article 27 of the Fire Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Solitaire Property Management Limited pleaded guilty at Southampton Magistrates Court having failed to respond to a number of requests for information relating to the premises known as Sundowner Block at 31 Channel Way, Ocean Village Southampton. (more…)
High Street chain “New Look” fined record £ 400,000 for breaches of fire safety.
A major high street chain “New Look” have been fined a record £400,000 for major breaches of fire safety, and also ordered to pay costs of £136,000 after a horrific blaze had turned one of their stores into a possible death trap.
The store in Oxford Street London, which was found to have had not enough emergency exits, and that their staff had not had suitable and sufficient training. Judge Geoffrey Rivlin QC said this fire could have been a ‘disaster almost too awful to contemplate’. (more…)
