Huge fire breaks out at Great Brington business park
A huge fire broke out at a business park in Great Brington, Northamptonshire, last weekend. A total of 14 fire crews were called to the scene and have only today (Monday 10th January) managed to fully extinguish the blaze.
The fire at the East Haddon Business Park broke out on Sunday (9th January), at around 1pm in the afternoon. It has been reported that three industrial premises went up in flames, causing billowing clouds of black smoke to spread throughout the surrounding area.
Another danger, apart from the intense heat and smoke, was a petroleum gas canister stored on site near to the burning buildings. Using their years of specialist fire training, fire crews managed to remove the gas canister safely from the site. They also cordoned off the area, and contained the fire to stop it spreading to other buildings in the business park.
No one has been reported injured in the fire, but the affected buildings have sustained devastating damage.
Speaking at the scene of the fire, a police spokesperson confirmed:
“The incident is being handled by the fire service but the police closed the road to assist them and ensure public safety.”
