Cornish pilot boat damaged in fire
It has been reported that a fire which broke out in an engine room on a pilot boat in a Falmouth harbour has caused extensive damage to the craft.
Falmouth firefighters were required at the harbour late Monday evening around 9pm to put out the fire on the Arrow vessel, which had four crew members on board at the time.
The town’s coastguards said the Arrow was less than 100 metres away from dangerous fuel containers at the time of the blaze. The boat had to be towed to Queen’s Wharf by the lifeboat.
It has been confirmed that nobody was injured in the fire, which is not being considered as suspicious.
This incident may have happened on a boat but it serves as a warning that fires can still break out whilst at sea. For those who own a boat, and may frequently have passengers on board, it is important to consider fire safety as well as first aid measures while on the vessel.
Fire safety is useful (not to mention a legal requirement) for many industries and the relevant training can help to keep your business as safe as possible. The types of courses available are flexible, so the training can be tailored to meet your individual requirements. However, certain information must be included on the course to comply with current legislation.
