Premier Inn hotel ravaged by fire
A Premier Inn hotel located in Northamptonshire has been left ruined following a blaze which broke out on the premises Monday evening.
Ten fire crews, including representatives from Buckinghamshire and the US base at RAF Croughton, arriving at the scene attempted to get the fire under control in the two-storey Brackley Hatch building, but the hotel was left completely destroyed.
The 55 guests staying at the hotel, situated between Brackley and Silverstone, had to be evacuated by Northamptonshire Fire Service when smoke was sighted at the building. The guests were moved to another Premier Inn hotel at nearby Harpole.
A spokeswoman for the fire service confirmed that nobody had been injured in the blaze.
Fire safety in these types of establishments is different from other businesses because of the unique issues faced by hotel employees. As there may be a varying number of guests staying at the hotel at any one time it is important to consider fire safety procedures and ensure that all guests are accounted for should a fire break out on the premises.
A Fire Safety in Hotels, Guest houses or Bed and Breakfasts course has been designed with these points in mind. Your staff can be trained as Fire Wardens to take responsibility for fire safety within the hotel and will know what to do in the event of a fire.
