Knottingley garage fire destroys a dozen cars
At the beginning of the week at least 12 cars were involved in a fire at a recovery garage in Knottingley.
The fire was reported in the early hours at 1.10am at Highway Recovery Ltd, on the A1 Business Park off Knottingley Road, near the A1.
Fire crews from Pontefract, Castleford, Featherstone, Garforth, Morley and other stations attended. A spokesman for the fire service said: “There were a dozen cars on the outside of the building, all of which were on fire and this spread to the building itself – there were also a number of vehicles inside the building but these were unaffected by the fire.”
Crews remained on the scene that day as the cause was still under investigation.
12 cars destroyed in garage fire
A fire which broke out on the afternoon of 6th May has destroyed a car workshop in Walsall.
Around 30 firefighters from Walsall, Bloxwich, Willenhall, Wednesbury, Bilston and West Bromwich attended the scene at the Monmore Green Welding Co facility in Birchills at around 1pm.
The owner of the garage, Simon Pearson said: “It has taken the workshop out completely. I have been here 33 years and there were vintage car parts in there which I can’t put a price on.”
Around 80% of the building and 12 cars were destroyed in the blaze as the fire tore through the building.
No casualties were reported in the incident
