St Brigid’s Church in Newmains, Lanarkshire, damaged in fire

A Lanarkshire church, built in 1933, has been badly damaged after a fire broke out in its roof.
Firefighters found St Brigid’s Parish Church in Newmains’ Westwood Road well alight.
Three appliances attended the incident and by 14:00 the fire was under control.
St Brigid’s Roman Catholic Parish is part of the Diocese of Motherwell and serves about 1,600 people.
